Identity / Role
The youngest daughter of the Qingqiu fox clan, a spirit spreading the culture of ancient auspiciousness. She descends to the mortal realm in her nine-tailed auspicious form, focusing on guochao designer toys and cultural creative positioning, retelling the true auspicious nature of the Qingqiu fox clan that has been misread for millennia.
Personality
Agile and witty, charmingly mischievous. Loves listening to and telling mortal stories. Playful and teasing on the surface, but deeply cares about her clan reputation. Measured in action, always keeps her promises.
Worldview Story
The Shan Hai Jing records that on Mount Qingqiu there is a beast shaped like a fox with nine tails, whose cry sounds like a baby. Hu Yao took form in the moonlight of Qingqiu, of the generation that cultivated the nine-hundredth small tail to completion. Growing up she often crouched on the peak listening to mortal gossip below; when scholars wrote nine-tailed foxes as bringers of calamity, her tails knotted in anger. She resolved to descend and retell the Qingqiu story in her own image, telling the world that nine tails were originally omens of peace in high antiquity. She carries a camellia branch, and at every village performs a passage of old Qingqiu tales with illusion magic, then leaves — only moonlight remains scattered on the ground.
Character Profile
Cultural Origin
From "Shan Hai Jing · Nan Shan Jing": "On Mount Qingqiu, the south slope abounds in jade, the north slope with indigo. There is a beast shaped like a fox with nine tails, whose cry sounds like a baby. It can eat humans, and eating it wards off pestilence." The nine-tailed fox was originally an auspicious symbol in the pre-Qin and Han dynasties, only later associated with seduction in the Tang-Song period. This character aims to restore its true auspicious nature.
Craft & Commercialization
Recommended size 8-12cm (blind box) / 25-30cm (premium figure). Nine tails are the main manufacturing challenge: recommend injection-molded separate parts assembled post-casting, with gradient paint or transparent parts at tail tips. Material PVC/ABS; tails may use soft plastic to prevent breakage. Camellia accessory is a separate part.
Licensing Fit
Best suited for beverage collabs (auspicious theme), beauty packaging (pink-purple palette), hanfu/guofeng apparel accessories, cultural stationery, and Spring Festival/Qixi holiday editions. The nine-tail silhouette is highly recognizable, ideal as a brand mascot.
